Group Urges Jonathan to Run in 2015 28 Sep 2013 Dele Ogbodo A Non-Governmental Organisation, the Progressive Friends Foundation (PFF), Friday called on President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the 2015 presidential elections. Addressing the media in Abuja, the group’s Chairman, Mr. Innocent Nyingierefaka, who was represented by Dr. Leloonu Nwibubasa, its Rivers State Coordinator, said the group is urging other people, organisations, interest groups of good will and like passion to persuade President Jonathan to contest the 2015 election because of his achievements within two years of his administration. According to the Nyingierefaka, Dr. Jonathan has shown visible, palpable and verifiable evidence of a productive passion for the development of the country, adding that he has shown understanding that Nigeria is far too large, far too precious and her destiny pregnant with significance. The signing into law the Freedom of Information Bill, the group stated was demonstration that the government is committed to deepening democratic values in the country. He said if the President could achieve all that he was doing within two years despite the security challenges, he would do more if the war against terrorism and other vices were finally put to rest within the shortest possible time. The group is optimistic that security challenges would soon be a thing of the past. Commending the President for putting the economy on the path of recovery, it said Nigeria’s position in the scale of countries with fastest growing economy has moved from its 44th to 36th position globally. It listed areas such as railway, aviation road and agriculture where the President has made tremendous strides. “Knowing full well that the developmental stride of this administration needs to be sustained and to ensure that these achievements are improved upon beyond the rubicon.” the Chairman said. The group stated that it has presence in 36 states of the federation with a mandate to promoting, monitoring and evaluating good governance. Nyingierefaka, assured the President of the group unwavering commitment and unbroken support to realize the Nigerian dream.
