Group demands investigation of self-confessed Boko Haram member at TB Joshua’s church via Premium Times - 10th March, 2014 A man confessed to be a member of Boko Haram at the Synagogue church on Sunday. A group, Movement for Accountability and Good Governance, has called for the investigation of a man, Mustapha, who confessed to being a Boko Haram member during the broadcast of a service at the Synagogue of All Nations, Lagos, owned by a cleric, Temitope Joshua. The service and confession was broadcast on Emmanuel Television, owned by the church, on Sunday. In a press statement on Monday by its national president, Jasper Azuatalam, the group highlighted aspects of Mr. Mustapha’s confession at the church pastored by T.B. Joshua. “In the conversation between Pastor T. B Joshua and Mustapha the acclaimed Boko Haram member, the following claims/confessions were made,” the group wrote. “(a) Mustapha claimed/confessed that he was sent to Lagos from Adamawa state, alongside four other Boko Harram members to go and bomb the Synagogue Church of All Nations at Ikotun, Lagos state. (b) Mustapha claimed/confessed that him and his team arrived Lagos successfully with a meter bomb (explosive materials) with which they tried to use to bomb the Synagogue Church of All Nations in Lagos. (c) Mustapha claimed/confessed that he was among the Boko Harram team that attacked an Air force base in Maiduguri and the recent attack in Michika few days ago that led to the death of scores of people and the destruction of properties worth billions of naira in Adamawa state. (d) Finally, Mustapha claimed/confessed that he was arrested by the power in the ministry of Pastor T. B Joshua, leading to his public confession.” The group, stating that it had confirmed the authenticity of the video, called on the Inspector General of Police or Chief of Army Staff to order an investigation into Mr. Mustapha’s confession. “We strongly feel that the issue of Boko Haram has become a serious issue considering the fact that thousands of Nigerians have lost their lives through the activities of the sect. We believe that the only way to get rid of the sect and their activities is to hunt the sect using vital information obtained from members of the sects who has either been arrested or confessed to being members of the sect,” it said. It asked the security agencies to ascertain the authenticity of Mr. Mustapha’s claims and ordered a manhunt for the four other members of the sect who allegedly came with the confessor to Lagos to bomb the Synagogue of All Nations Church. It also demanded that the location in Adamawa where the Boko Haram members were trained, according to Mr. Mustapha, should also be identified. “We strongly believe that this information, if obtained, will unravel a lot of things about Boko Haram and those behind (it) so that our dear nation can heave a sigh of relief from the torture of this dreaded sect,” the group said.
