Group members, from time to time we come to all of you for - TopicsExpress

Group members, from time to time we come to all of you for opinions and for help in making decisions that affect all of you. This is another one of those requests for feedback. We have a really good balance of growers and spinners within the group. Spin That by Paca This was created (primarily) in order to help alpaca breeders get their fleeces processed and made into a marketable product. When breeders/growers have a fleece to process, they post photos and trading begins. But we also have a lot of members in our group with tons of experience with hand-spinning, fleece processing, knitting, crochet, dyeing, weaving, felting…. Everything under the sun! Many times these group members would probably love to post trades too. To date, we have not encouraged that side of trading, feeling like it would undermine the overall fleece-trading process and would over-burden spinners being available when growers post fleeces. Long story made much shorter, how do our group members feel about this? Should we allow spinners, knitters, etc. to request trades when they want them? Do you feel it would support the groups purpose and support group participation? Do you feel it would encourage “outside the group” trades or would it encourage MORE “inside the group” trades? From a moderator’s standpoint, we are committed to continuing to help with trades and to monitor group trades as a safety net for our members. If “outside the group” trades increase or continue, we cannot monitor them or help with them if the trade goes bad. That’s important to know and remember. We would love to hear from you to help us shape the future for the group. It would also help if you identify yourself in the reply. Do you participate primarily as a grower, a hand-spinner? A knitter, etc?
