Growing up as a kid, I always wanted to be a footballer. I idolized the likes of David Beckham, Gary Neville, Alan Shearer and the whole 1998 World Cup England team. I practiced hard to get myself into the school football team. My late father supported my interest, but I remember a quote he once told me, which I will never forget: These people are just using you. This whole football system. Theyre using you for the sake of their own good I didnt really understand what he meant back then. But now, after reading this article, I wish I could tell him how right he was.
