Growing up in Australia as a kid I definitely felt that you had to - TopicsExpress

Growing up in Australia as a kid I definitely felt that you had to defend loving the game of football, especially to people who didnt understand its appeal or beauty. It was quite common to get teased in school for being a lover of the WORLD game. It seemed that if you were born overseas or had parents who migrated to this country you already were a convert and understood its significance and how it brought people together. For a really long time I remember how Football was considered a joke in this country... How times have changed, the relevance of the World game in this country cannot be understated and the man who is largely responsible for this is Les Murray. He is the face of football in this country and has done and continues to do so much to promote the game in Australia. Whether it was the World Cup Qualifiers, Premier League Highlights, Champions League or the World Cup itself you made watching football enjoyable and your enthusiasm was contagious. Thank you for the memories Les Murray... An absolute Legend who doesnt get the credit or respect that he deserves
