Growing up in Plainview in the 60s was suburbia spreading like crazy. The LIE ended in Hauppauge, Old Country Road to Manetto Hill Road was mostly dirt. Morton Village was the only Shopping Center around. Cars were fixed at Hicksville Auto Spring, Seemed like everyone either worked at Grumman Plant 9 or somewhere behind the fence. Dantes Pizza (Hicksville) getting an Inferno with peppers. There was an Italian place off of Stewart Ave. in Bethpage I remember a giant board up front and you ordered by number to get what you wanted. # 9 Eggplant hero. Summer time you would hear the Engine tests going on for the F-14s, once in a while they would blew up. Then they would ferry them out to Calverton and we would get a fly over. So many ole memories. The Jolly Swagman, Rudis Delicatessen, TSS in Levittown, Levittown Roller Rink, Zorns for turkeys and Floyds off of the 135 in Syosset. Glad to have found you folks. Thanks...
