Growing your social media community is often subtle. One of the biggest mistakes I see is incomplete bios. If youre a regular Facebook commenter, you need to have your About page complete. Youve just made contact with a potential client, an influencer in your field or someone who will refer you because of your thoughtful comment. One of the first things that person ( and potentially everyone else who commented ) does is check who you are - your About page. Its essential that a link to your website be there. Also links to your twitter, linkedin and Instagram accounts. Is it clear from your home page what you do and how to contact you? Youve already made contact with that person and now they want more information. You can spend your time attempting to contact strangers using strategies that arent effective any more or you can be smart about using social channels to build relationships.
