Grumpy old men OR Do we really need to be each others babysitters? Recently I had two different persons (both men) and at two different times decide it was their job to tell me what NOT to do and both with fingers wagging. The first was about a month ago because I was talking on my phone in the car. The second was today when this man thought I had parked in a handicapped spot at Harris Teeter. I had not and would not. If hed looked carefully he would have seen that a non handicapped spot is in between two handicapped spots. Granted talking on the phone in the car is not a good idea. So I bit my tongue and banished any minor road rage I might have felt. However, today annoyed me. And got me to thinking about how much we live in a world where it is perfectly acceptable to admonish anyone. I sort of miss the world where everyone minded their own business. Parents told by the courts how to raise their own kids. Neighbors turning in neighbors for garbage cans still on the curb after a few days, - the full gamut from those that are serious to those that are petty complaints. Now Im a reasonable person and realize it takes a village and we will in a different world than the Mayberry world I grew up in but sometimes its best to keep your wagging finger to yourself. A tricky world we live in - to meddle or not to meddle that is the question. In the words of the coffee klatsch ladies form SNL Lets Discuss.
