Gud News For All- Altisource,MediaTek, Prime Focus, expand in Bangalore BANGALORE: Plenty of high-end jobs are coming to Bangalore. Three major technology companies have just announced expansion plans in the city that together will add over 1,000 new jobs over the next few months. Altisource Portfolio Solutions, the Nasdaq-listed provider of technology solutions for the real estate and mortgage industries, said it plans to hire 500 technology professionals in 2014 to be part of a new initiative called Altisource Labs, a global innovation accelerator. Prime Focus Technologies, the technology arm of Mumbai-based Prime Focus, one of the worlds largest media services companies, said it would hire 500 software professionals in 2014-15. MediaTek, the global fabless semiconductor company, announced a new R&D facility in Bangalore, and said it plans to build a workforce of over 100 professionals with strong expertise in the IC (integrated circuit) design industry. The Taiwan headquartered company plans to grow that number to over 500 over the next few years. Ranga Shetty, vice president of engineering at Altisource, said the company needs top notch talent that knows the new breed of technology. Bangalore was an obvious choice. The work we will do here is very complex, with advanced technical challenges that will really excite the top-notch engineers who come work with us, he said. The Labs initiative, whose objective is to come up with fresh ideas and develop them into businesses, started with facilities in Boston and Atlanta last year. The Bangalore Lab is the third. Altisources software helps some of the worlds largest financial institutions tackle challenges related to advanced data analytics, predictive consumer behavior modeling and business-process optimization. Shetty said the Labs are nurturing four ideas now, including in analytics. Prime Focus Technologies CEO Ramki Sankaranarayanan said the global success of its ERP suite had led to the imminent need to expand its teams focused on R&D, software development and delivery.
