Guess what Donegal - weve grown up. I remember in the early stages of the 2012 final against Mayo I suddenly thought if they lose this game what will it do to the morale of the county? As we know, they won and it was wonderful. Yesterday morning we were in a long line of cars and busses on our way to Dublin and the mood was elated and hopeful. When we reached the motorway there were Scottish cars, who must have come off the ferry, joining into the convoy. It was a glorious day. Families and friends were gathering all through the streets of Dublin. The Minor and Senior games didnt go to script. In the final match I would argue the better team didnt win as there wasnt a better team. Both were off-form. But this it - for whatever reason Donegal were off their very fine form. We lost the match. It wont harm the county in any way. Weve matured along the journey and every single player and team member did their county proud. They are fine men. Jim McGuinness isnt God, just an amazing manager and person. Jim, of all people, knows the real world and what real tragedy means. But it is still Donegal Pride of All. In 1992 we were shocked to be in the Croke park at all. In 2012 we kind of scampered into the park. Yesterday we went in the front door as a strong, mature county. Well be back. In the meantime, let Declan and his boys, Jim , Michael and the whole team and their families get on with their lives. They all deserve our respect.
