Guest post; Gordon Leblanc Meat Supervisor/buyer 6/28/2014 An open letter to the Board of Directors of DSM, Inc and Arthur S. Demoulas On Monday June 23, 2014, you decided to take control of our company and you thought a good start would be to fire our President and CEO Arthur T. Demoulas. He is a person who has worked his whole life, being groomed as a young person to run this company, chose to work very hard and long to make us a very successful company with thousands of employees working hard and reaping the benefits of his and our hard work. Arthur T. Demoulas is a person who knows how to run a business, cares genuinely for his associates, rewards hard work and cares about the future of our company and the future of its associates and their families. I consider Arthur T. Demoulas my friend, my mentor and the leader of our company. Then you thought it would be wise to fire Bill Marsden and Joe Rockwell. Both of these men have dedicated their lives to Demoulas Supermarkets for myself and all of our associates, these two people have educated and mentored us into better people for the benefit of us and Demoulas Supermarkets. I would not be where I am today if not for them. How could any good come from these actions? I am very proud of Don Mulligan, David McLean, Jay Rainville and Ron Carignan to have the courage to resign their positions, rather thanserve the Board and Arthur S. Demoulas. I am extremely saddened by the resignation of Mr. James D. Miamis, Executive Vice-President of Demoulas Supermarkets and longtime Director of the Meat Department. Mr. Miamis has been an associate of Demoulas Super Markets for almost seventy (70) years. He has always been a professional, always a gentleman and always progressive. Joe Rockwell, Bill Marsden, Dave McLean and Jay Rainville were the lifeblood of the company; Mr. Miamis is the heart and soul. Mr. Miamis has been like a second father to most of us. Giving us advice, encouragement and confidence. I cannot thank him enough. The Board and Arthur S. Demoulas can appoint people to take their positions but you will never replace them and what they have given to our company. Did you ever consider what these people have invested in this company or the feelings and future of their families, many of which are our associates-team mates and friends? Next you want to take over Indian Ridge Country Club and threatened to fire Cheri Nolan and her staff. These people have done nothing but be competent and loyal associates. They are also our associates-team mates and friends. I cannot be sure what your intentions are but your actions speak volumes and the feelings are not good! I love my job and the people I work with. I respect them and support them. I have invested 43 years of hard work and dedication to Demoulas Super Markets, T.A. Demoulas and Arthur T. Demoulas and have been well compensated! Do Not Question my loyalty! I am loyal to Demoulas Market Basket and all our hard working associates! I am loyal to the philosophy of T.A. Demoulas (More for Your Dollar) and sharing of the profits of our hard work through incentive bonuses-profit sharing and fair days pay for a fair days work! Thousands of Market Basket associates and thousands of Market Basket shoppers depend on the philosophy of More for your dollar. Every action you take for whatever reason, effects thousands of us! I see nothing good coming from the disrespectful and irresponsible decisions the board has made the last couple of weeks! This is a people business and this is not the way to treat people. I know you have not responded to the many letters sent to the Board of Directors by many of our concerned associates but just in case you would care to talk to me at 875 East Street Tewksbury, Ma. Doing my job! For my family! For my fellow associates! For the customers of Market Basket! Someone said If a man does not stand for something, he will fall for anything! Here I stand! Gordon J. LeBlanc Jr.
