Guidetti: Manager drives us on to bigger and better things JOHN Guidetti is hoping that the Celtic fans haven’t seen the best of him yet and if Ronny Deila has anything to do with it, the striker will get even better. Despite being the club’s top scorer so far this season with nine goals in only nine appearances, the Swede still hopes there is still more to come from him and his team-mates and stated that the manager is urging them on consistently – win, lose or draw. The free-scoring Swede said of the Celtic manager: “He is on my case big time and I like that. He brought me into his office the day after I scored a hat-trick and said, ‘John, you did good but you can do better. You didn’t work so well in defence,’ and I like that. “I asked him to do this because he wants the best out of me and he wants the best out of all the players, so if you score three and you could have scored four, he wants you to score four. “He wants you to do everything right and I love that mentality as this is what is going to make me develop, because the moment you stop thinking that you can develop and stop working hard, that’s the day that you become worse as a football player.” The Celtic support have taken the striker to their hearts but he still wants to produce more for them. He said, when asked if the fans had seen the best of him yet: “I hope not because, there are big games coming up and games that are very important to them. So these are the games that I want to do well in. “But it’s about the team because I am getting to know the players better every single day. Soon you will be able to put a blindfold on us and we will still find each other anyway. “This is what happens over time, you gel with each other and I just have to do my small part and my small part is to put the ball in the back of the net. “Now people are starting to understand my runs and they start to understand how we work together and I start to understand them, so hopefully it’s going to get better.” His rejuvenated form with the Hoops has also resulted in Sweden coach, Erik Hamren calling him up for their Euro 2016 Group G qualifier against Montenegro. Guidetti said: “It’s always an honour to play for your country but the most important thing is what you do here as the awards will come if you do well. “So I just try to stay focused on what I do here as this is the most important thing for me and the national team is obviously a bonus.”
