Guitarist Doug Sahm was born on this day in 1941 in San Antonio, TX. You can`t put a label on Doug Sahm. He was a knowledgeable music historian and a veteran performer comfortable playing Blues, R&B, Rock, Country, Western Swing, Tex-Mex and Cajun music. Sahm began his recording career in the 50s, but scored a national hit when his band, The Sir Douglas Quintet released Mendocino. Among Sahm`s most essential Blues albums are Hell of a Spell on Takoma and the Grammy nominated The Last Real Texas Blues Band on Antone`s Records.
