Guitarist/vocalist Tommy Bolin died on this day 38 years ago. Bolin made his name following Joe Walsh in The James Gang and, later, replacing Ritchie Blackmore in Deep Purple. Both stints were brief, but they turned a wider audience on to Tommys wide ranging style and serious hard rock chops. He also released two solo records in his short career. Tommy was 25 when he passed away after a drug overdose, following a show opening for Jeff Beck in Florida. Here is a track that is atypical of Tommy, but shows his versatility. RIP Tommy Bolin.
