Guy Scott says Sorry for Barring Media at Parliament Vice President Guy Scott has mouthed an apology to the private and foreign media that were barred from covering the official opening of parliament by President Michael Sata. Barely 24 hours after Information Minister Joseph Katema absolved government of any responsibility his superior has taken responsibility and apologized for the act that saw journalists covering President Sata’s address from a television screen outside parliament. Scott said the barring may have been caused by officials who feared they would be blamed for too much publicity of the event. He said some officials may have been nervous about the event and took extreme precautions. “I think if it was the case that there was discrimination against foreign journalists and so forth for the opening of parliament then I am deeply sorry,” he said. “It shouldn’t have been there maybe somebody just got nervous and worried that they would be blamed for something.” He said, “I totally condemn violence by any PF cadre or so called PF cadre against journalists there is no two ways about it PF is against that. It is not part of our policy we have always been strong on that we control our own cadres as best as we can sometimes you have to get caught because you don’t know who they are.” zambiareports/2014/09/23/guy-scott-says-sorry-barring-media-parliament/
