Guys! I recently came across something called Java Essentials which was the Java variation on something called C++ essentials. I came across this while browsing on my phone -- sadly i did not keep the URL, but the idea stuck with me. What is it? Well, its a small collection of libraries which are regarded as extremely helpful and something everyone should have when writing applications in those languages. My thoughts go to the Jedi Library for Delphi. But as we all know, that library has become huge in size, and its not well maintained anymore. But What would a Delphi essentials look like? The package should cover everything you need to write good projects, meaning: -A working, free database engine -A visually pleasing database grid -Networking components or package -Disk and file utilities -Image and graphics classes -Threading and process simplifiers My proposal for a Delphi essentials package: TDBF database engine (freeware) ICS Internet Suite for internet connectivity ByteRage for memory and file manipulation GR32 for graphics OmniThreadLibrary for threading and process issues What would your essentials look like? Please stick to open-source, freeware or shareware products.
