Gwyneth Paltrow announced this week that shes going to convert to Judaism. I know, you thought she ALREADY was Jewish, right? Well, Gwyneths mother, Blythe Danner, isnt Jewish but her father was -- making her a Patrilineal Jew (and not recognized by everyone as Jewish). Now, after discovering on a TV show that her ancestors were famous rabbis, she has decided that she wants to raise her two children (Apple and Moses) in the Jewish traditions of her heritage and will formally convert to Judaism (shes also dating the Jewish co-creator of Glee whose mother is the international president of Hadassah). What will this high profile conversion to Judaism by someone always thought of as a Jewish celebrity mean for other Patrilineal Jews?
