Gym Conversation # 34560 Guy: Hey! Its great to see you! Me: Its great to see you too! Guy: Are you competing this year? Me: Yes, Im doing the O. Guy: Didnt you do NY this year? Me: No, not this year. (smile) Guy: Have you competed at all this year? Me: Nope. (Smile) Guy: Not AT ALL??? (scornful look) Me: Nope. (Smile) Guy: Well, youre not gonna win the Olympia!! How can you expect to win if you havent done any shows this year? Me: If not winning the O has to do with the fact that I havent done any shows this year, Ill accept that. Im not fortunate to have a lifestyle of only eating, sleeping, and training. I have a full time job, I teach college courses part time, Im in the third year of my doctorate program AND I prep myself. Guy: Wow! ....Thats a lot! Me: It is! Everything I do requires me to do it well! Life for me is about balance. Me: So....to answer your question, How can I expect to win? Every athlete trains with winning in mind whether its one show or five shows. All I can do is train and show up. The rest is left to the judges and fate. I have peace with whatever happens.
