H-1B Cap Exempt - Status not available Get OPT/CPT alerts to your inbox via bit.ly/1da2vrz I graduated in June 2013 and I am working for a non-profit organization since September 2013. They applied for my H1-B visa on March 4th, 2014. The status still says initial review. 1. Since it is a non-profit application, I thought it is cap-exempt and need not go through lottery, correct? 2. Is it normal that the processing takes this much time? 3. My OPT started on July 22nd, 2013. Can I apply for STEM extension when the decision of H1-B has not been made? I am afraid that if I wait longer and for some reason, my H1-B is not approved, then what next?
