HAIR from the hire car still exists in Portugal. HAVE THE PJ SENT THE HAIRS FOR TESTING FOR DNA AND RECEIVED THE RESULT? Tests that FSS claimed were not possible at the time to test for DNA without root are available. Gonçalo Amaral is interviewed by Porto Canal - 14.03.2014 themaddiecasefiles/topic21993.html “Then there’s another situation. It is still possible to find out or to collect indications of whether or not the dogs failed. If inside that car boot – I’m referring to the car that was rented by the McCanns some 15 or 20 days after the disappearance – blood traces were found, traces that the lab says may be, although there is no full certainty, that may be from Madeleine McCann, hair was also found. Hair which the laboratory says, from its coloration, which is how this used to be done in the old days, by comparing the coloration, if it belonged to the person or not. Nowadays it is possible to perform, and then it was already possible, to perform DNA tests on hair. Some say it’s only possible to identify the DNA profile with the root of the hair, the English lab says it’s not possible because these have no root, therefore they don’t perform the test. That hair is in Portugal, it was returned to Portugal. They are next to the process. It’s simple: the Public Ministry, that has the investigation, should take that hair and send it to a lab in Europe or elsewhere, where that type of test is done, without the need for the root of the hair.” Q: That was never done? “That was never done. It was never done and what is said is that there may have been a contamination. But we end up not knowing whether that hair belongs to Madeleine McCann or not. She was very troubled with the forensic details and the results that appeared to be incomplete. She gave me permission to use her post and some of them are archived in the original Madeleine research forum (Link Below) beachy I would give a great deal to go through EVERYTHING that was sent from the FSS - emails, reports (preliminary or otherwise), everything. I know I have been banging on about this for months, but I simply cannot believe that the FSS IGNORED Paulo Rebelos specific request in a memorandum sent, I believe in October 2007 soon after he took over the investigation, to examine the hairs in the hire car for signs of proximal root banding that would indicate they came from a dead person. Perhaps the FSS tried and could not do it for some reason (split ends wont do; you need hair from nearer the root, though it need not have the root attached). But the file is simply silent on that whole aspect of the case, and in my opinion, its crucial. Even if the minute amounts of LCN DNA in the car could have been proven to have come from Maddie, there still might be the possibility of secondary transfer from something belonging to her. But a hair with proximal banding indicating that it came from the head of someone who was dead would have been devastating evidence if it had been subjected to further testing and it had been found that the mitochondrial DNA of the hair matched Kate McCanns. Moreover, if the hairs had been tested and none showed signs of being corpse hairs, I think in fairness to the McCanns that should have been reported also. I cannot imagine any reputable laboratory simply ignoring this and not mentioning it in a report. I simply cannot. msngroup.aimoo/madeleinemccann/beachy.msnw.htm
