HAJ invites applications for the position of SENIOR ACCOUNTANT. Job summary: The Senior Accountant manages the operations of the Finance Unit to ensure the integrity of the companys records and reports. The position is required to meet stipulated deadlines for statutory audits; provides accurate and timely management information; safeguards and ensures the optimal use of the companys assets and; actively participates in the introduction and implementation of new systems. The Senior Accountant participates in the setting of operational plans and standards of performance for the Unit and reviewing and amending the accounting procedures manual, together with the Senior Manager, Finance and Information and Team Leader, Accounting. The functional areas of budgetary planning and control, general ledger input, accounts payable and disbursements, payroll, cashiering and collections, and mortgage accounting are the direct responsibilities together with the assigned staffing. Education, Specialized Techniques, Skills and Experience: • Professional Accounting Designation - CPA, ACCA, CMA, CA or ICMA • Knowledge of financial and project accounting. • Knowledge of capital market for accessing credit for project financing. • Proficient in the use of computer applications and accounting software, including Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Working knowledge of Solomon Dynamics would be a distinct advantage. • Sound knowledge of Government of Jamaica accounting and budget requirements as well as an understanding of Government of Jamaica procurement guidelines. • At least five (5) years post qualification experience in a professional environment at the supervisory level in a medium to large organization. • Solid interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact effectively at all levels, internally and externally. • Ability to manage and prioritize work independently and meet reporting deadlines. • Excellent analytical skills.
