HAMRUN SPARTANS vs MARSA - 11th October next...... This Saturday is the derby Hamrun Spartans vs Marsa. The first ever official encounter between both villages on MFA level was a First Division League played on 7th March 1920. Hamrun won that match 3-0. As we can see in the below chart, there were in total 43 official encounters between the neighbours which resulted into 20 wins for Hamrun, 10 draws and 13 Marsa wins. The last time both teams in an official match was during the 2004/05 Division One campaign, to be precise on 30th January 2005. At that occasion Hamrun won 2-1. From the 43 official encounters ever played, 39 were league clashes (35 on level 1 and 4 on level 2) and 4 were in cup competitions (3 FA Trophy and 1 in the old Cousis Shield)....So nearly ten years have passed without this fascinating encounter..but...THE DERBY is back!!!
