HANGUMAN PLAYS GUITAR It has been a while since I have been active on my artist page. I only want to connect with you on Facebook when I have something to say or when I can share a link that I find amazing. After the release of my album “LOVE from RUMI”, I needed a break from my Hang. The recording and producing took a lot of time and since I produced the album myself it meant that I heard myself play the Hang over and over again for months and I knew that this break, besides bringing me back my appetite for my Hang, would mysteriously improve my skills. So instead of taking my Hang with me on my yearly travels I decided to bring along a guitar instead. I always wanted to play the guitar but two previous attempts failed. Somehow, because of the learning process I went through discovering my Hang, I knew it would be different this time. I intended to approach the guitar the same way as I did my Hang. Which meant for me that after learning just 8 chords (my Hang has 8 different tones) I would stick with those 8 chords for a while until I was familiar with them and at the same time got some strumming experience in my right hand. Playing my Hang showed me that the possible variety with only 8 notes is limitless. So instead of getting lost in the multitude of chords I chose to stay close at home for a while. I still do not consider myself a musician and it was a big surprise to me how many songs I could play on my guitar with only these 8 chords. Songs that I had loved for decades. As I write this I play the guitar for about 9 months and I still know only maybe 9 or 10 chords but with those few chords I was able to make my own simple little compositions and even put some of my own words to it. Im loving it. It gives me the same energy boost that my Hang always gives me when I am playing. It also gave me new insights in what direction I want to take my music. The Hang should be only the sound of music, a mystical journey beyond words. When I bought my Hang in Switzerland they told me that this particular Hang was tuned in the heart chakra but only last year did I get the full meaning of this me when a deaf lady stopped beside me when I was playing and told me she could feel the vibrations in her heart area. This is where I want to touch my listeners, without any distraction of words. When I play my guitar and sing it is a different story for me. Now I want people to pounder over my words. Dont ask me why because I have no real answer for you but I need to get these words out. Im done with so called “spiritual” discussions but to put my words to music feels somehow liberating for me. I dont care if people listen or not. I dont care if they like it or not and I dont care if they agree or not. Its out and that feels good to me. And the guitar for me is the perfect instrument to accompany my words. I hope you enjoy the first song I ever wrote. Love Hanguman
