HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO CURTIS LEE (PRETTY LITTLE ANGEL EYES) OCTOBER 28, 1941 10 / 28 / 1941 = Happy Birthday Curtis Lee . Hometown = Yuma, Arizona. Singer Ray Peterson & his manager Stan Shulman saw Curtis performing at a club in Tucson. They were impressed with his act, & convinced him to go to New York & record for Dunes Records, the same label Ray was recording for at that time. He debuted on the label with Pledge Of Love. The record went nowhere. However, during the summer of 1961, he recorded a song that he had written along with Tommy Boyce, Pretty Little Angel Eyes. It became his biggest hit. The back round singers on that hit were the Halos, who had a big hit with Nag. Also in 1961 Curtis had a hit with Under The Moon Of Love.
