HAPPY FATHERS DAY! *My father* A banker who did not go on an unreturnable journey of career development craze to ruin our lives by cutting us from our roots and our blood. A painter who can paint anything at will with pastels, water-color, crayons and lead pencils. Once he spent whole night to make a portrait of my bro to gift him on his birthday next day! A former Pakistan Universities hockey player, who played twice as opposing number to the legendary flying horse Sami Ullah and only once let him score the goal. Sami predicted he will be in the national team soon. But he did not choose hockey as whole poor family was feeding on him and hockey would not provide much salary. A former PSF student leader who arranged Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Bhuttos visit to D.I.Khan. And he still keeps the photos with him of his and Benazir Bhutto. He still recalls how shaking hands with Mr. Bhutto felt like. An insipiration who did not just talk the talk of saying Live Simple Life but he went to office on bicycle for 8 months when he was the regional manager of his bank because motorbikes were banned and he refused to accept banks car as he could not afford it. A brave man who tore the taliban threat letter found in porch under the gate with a smile, So be it. And kept on going to office when everyday 5, 6 target killings had happened. A no-fuss human who made our sisters wedding so simple to manage with no show-offs, no fake status modelling by inviting few of his friends and family and thats it. A father who suffered second heart attack and just before going into the operation theatre with bloodshot eyes, swelled face and a smile said, Good luck with your exam tomorrow. An honorable man who never lets us polish his shoes, never wants us to untie his laces and put off his shoes. If he sees that everyone of us is busy in our work, he silently presses his clothes and leaves for office. He never tells us to wash the car. If we do any of these all ourselves, we get a dinner or gift in few days from him! I might have disagreed, argued, got angry with him but at the end of the day, he was always right! To all the self-less fathers like mine, HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!! P.S. wish I could tell him this on his face, but some relations are so pure that you dont need words. Just feel them and project to others! :)
