PSALM 146:5-6 Holy Father, who transformed a clever manipulating Jacob and renamed him Israel, meaning "God strives," I thank You that You are the person-smith of my life, hammering out the character You want for me. Gracious God, show me enough of my real self to expose my false pride and enough of Your grace to overcome my self-sufficiency. When I am tempted, fortify me with Your strength. Give me keen intellect to listen for Your voice in every difficulty. Be with me on the mountain peaks of success to remind me that You are the source of my talents and gifts. Also, be with me also in the deep valleys of discouragement to help me receive Your courage to press on. You are my light, Lord. I was not meant to walk in darkness or fear for uncertainty. I trust You to use all the victories and defeats of life to bring me closer to You. May the serenity and peace I feel in this time of prayer sustain me throughout this day. I thank You in advance for a great day filled with incredible surprises of sheer joy..........Amen
