HAPPY MOTHERS DAY About my Mom This is one of my favorite pictures. My Mom is a big football fan and she and my Dad were season ticket holders during the Luv Ya Blue days. Bum, who we sadly lost recently, was a close friend of mine and a hero to my Mom. We took this picture a few years ago at a Be An Angel gala. It was a great night for all of us. My Mom has always been there with me since I was a kid. She worked full time but never missed a little league game and we bowled almost every Saturday when there wasnt a game. When I began my band in the 9th grade my Mom and Dad came to almost every band engagement we played over the years. When I was 14 she and my Dad bought me one of the finest guitars you could buy. They spent more than they should have. I still have it today and play it whenever I can 50 years laters When I got my first job as a disc jockey she listened to every show on the Country station I worked for and if she needed something she bought it from one of my sponsors. I was a Master of Ceremonies for lots of big Country shows that my station brought into town. She and my Dad came to every show from Ray Price to Buck Owens. When I moved back to Washington D.C. as a TV sportscaster, with Al Roker who started the same day with me as our weatherman, she watched the show every night from Baltimore. When she and my Dad moved to Houston to be with our family, Im the only child, and my kids were their only grandkids, she worked at my restaurant running the office. When my business was failing in the mid-80s when the recession hit, she worked for no pay and didnt tell me. At 88 in September she is still a big sports fan, loves to watch golf, football and basketball. She loves to play bridge and poker, watches Fox news 24/7 and is sharp as anyone I know on sports, politics and the news. She could host my talk show. And like always she is there to support me every step. She came to my fundraiser just this week. This race has been hard on her with all of the nasty attacks as it would be for any Mom, but she smiles through it all and tells her friends to be sure to vote. Im so blessed in so many ways including having one of the most incredible Moms ever. She has been a major influence in my life and helped make me the person I am Love you Mom
