HAPPY NEW YEAR and Welcome to 2015! This Sunday night on Nostalgia Time I will covering over 50 years of music, going from Bob Wills 1946 recording of the classic Steel Guitar Rag to the Raybon Brothers Butterfly Kisses from 1997. In between will be requested songs by Joni Mitchell; John Denver; the Oak Ridge Boys; Les Paul and Mary Ford; Tom Jones; Andy Williams, etc. The show is heard on KTXR-FM 101.3 and Radiospringfield from 6:30 to 10:00 pm. It would be great if you would tune us in! Photos: the front and back of a Smokey The Bear free comic from 1950. It was published as a service of the American Forestry Association, Washington D.C. These would have been handed out freely in many venues, but especially in public schools of the era. Smokey turned 70 in 2014! The popular Eddy Arnold and Gene Autry song about him premiered in 1952. I have both recordings if you ever want to hear it and sing along. In 2015 I celebrate my 40th year on Springfield radio on a regular basis. I did my first weekly shows on KWTO in March, 1975. This morning (New Years Day) wife Nira spent an hour cleaning out some drawers where she found and handed to me this photo of yours truly in 2008 at a Don Wessel auto remote. You will notice a chair lift behind me that allowed Mr. Wessel to have a little help going up the stairs to his office. He was not able to attend my remote that day, due to his health issues. It was a sad day for the Ozarks when Mr. Wessel passed away. He was a wonderful cheerleader for the Ozarks for nearly 50 years, and he kindly advertised on my radio shows for over 30 of those years. Mr. Don Wessel was a really fine gentleman.
