HAPPY THANKSGIVING... For those who do not know, This Thanksgiving I got a little unexpected surprise Another truck repair when I least felt I needed or could afford it. Over the last few days I have been doing what I can to solve the problem As well as getting the opportunity to reflect on the timing of things. Perhaps the price of this repair is not really a monetary one I realized But rather the cost of my time and coin was meant to give me something I do need Something more important that I can afford, to learn, at this time. It was then that things started to click, In more ways than just as a symptom of the truck problem. As things progressed I gradually became aware of how fortunate I was, How so very grateful I am to even have a truck, To have a resource that has given me an incredibly diverse and bizarre series of challenges, solutions and opportunities in this life. A truck that has helped be my, mostly stalwart, companion on so many incredible adventures, To unique places through unique times, To help me evolve through the transformative journey of being gainfully self employed, Allowing me to pick up and meet so many interesting and wonderful people, And be so, so, so very privileged with all the freedom that having a vehicle can provide, I then began to realize how thankful I was for having had a father One who taught me enough about mechanics that he empowered me with the knowledge that I could now use. One who was open enough to accept my input, and in so doing, let me be help build and be part of the shop which I now have this mechanics pit to work in. Then, when the pondering about how I was going to pay for this little life lesson came up, it motivated me to take action. I began a conversation with someone which I would not likely have initiated otherwise, It began a negotiation which was much closer in alignment with what I believe is my higher calling And deviated me from one, potentially more sedentary path, into another more community empowering one. Perhaps in the future I will post about this event alone, But for now I am simply in gratitude for the opportunity of learning this truck breakdown has provided. For everything unfortunate, in a sense, I believe, is also the opposite. To become sensitive to the teaching of something is certainly a practice Something I have been given a lot of learning as to how to do it seems So now, When life speaks Through its eclectic mix of ongoing events I am listening Thankful For what is As opposed to bitter About what isnt. For it is the lessons I now realize The lessons I do need Not necessarily the money For with the learning, In my body, In my mind, Or perhaps just on my Facebook page =) It is then that I can afford to invest in, Put my trust into the real asset of life... Myself And that is a vehicle worth spending time and TLC on. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
