HARI OM Note: This is an advisory to BJP and what they should do to counter Kejriwal and his Aam Admi party KEJRIS IITIAN THINKING MIND VERSUS BJP By Vivekanand Jha Kejriwal has proved that what he thinks today, BJP thinks tomorrow and Congress may or may not think even day after tomorrow. Why it is Kejriwal that is becoming the focus of nations attention with the passage of every single day and that too, not for a right reason, but mostly for his rabble rousing actions? And that, too, after being out of power -- only a master tactician can remain in the limelight even after sacrificing power on such flimsy grounds as--Kejriwal does. Not even a month ago, on 14th February, 2014 when Kejriwal had resigned from his Chief Ministerial position, many political commentators, including this writer, had predicted that road has come to be an end for him and that he had committed a political harakiri by sacrificing his Chief Ministerial chair. However, many political pundits had also predicted that he was destined to take this position once Parliamentary election approached, for he would then be let loose on Modi to take him on across the country by his so- called sympathisers--Congress Party. His calling a day from Delhis highest administrative chair, brought cheers from all his political rivals which ranged from Sheila to Arun Jaitley. But none then, had anticipated that, far from languishing in wilderness, Kejri will be stirring the hornet nest and prove to be of a greater anxiety for the BJP in the days to come. In the course of unleashing his brand of unconventional politics, Kejriwal was even dubbed as a Naxal by Subramanian Swamy and many others dubbed him as a champion of anarchy in this civilised democracy of ours( this writer also included). Kejriwal however, had been extremely determined and devoutly focused towards his single minded agenda: creating a brand for himself through an unconventional means--and that would be by attacking all that established trends institutionalised in the polity. He sat on dharna in Jantar Mantar on the eve of Republic day which no politician of the land ever dared for incurring the public wrath, but Kejriwal did and he bucked the trend. In the normal circumstances, anyone so doing, especially challenging the nations sacred hallmark, would in all probability, must have lost his credibility and all his goodwill. But in case of Kejriwal it didnt, why? The explanation is simple: The average men and women of India, with due regards to their intelligence and acquired wisdom, never in the least, understood the significance of the solemnity of occasion apart from its symbolism--display of military might and President of India saluting the moving tanks with military officers also remaining in the same posture --with the other dignitaries making their mark of presence felt on this occasion. Theoretical interpretations apart, nation as a whole has lost its overall interest in symbolism. And therefore, when Arvind Kejriwal displayed a sheer brazenness in disobeying and disregarding the sanctity of the occasion, he got kudos and accolades instead of brickbats from a vast number of people who he purportedly represents--so -called Aam Admi, who never felt part of that ceremony or the custom which meant for VIPs and who is who. The subsequent act of resignation from Chief Ministership, although brought him a tag of a coward, but still that tag did not alienate him from the so- called Aam Admi, who continued to look up to him as someone still fighting their collective war. And this faith got strengthened when Kejri, soon after coming to the power, immediately proceeded to fulfill his promises of granting free water and reducing the subsidy on electricity--the biggest issue confronting the Aam Admi. even though it was symbolic as his ouster from the power left the entire relief in the lurch. Still, Kejri succeeded in getting imprinted in the minds of vast number of Aam Admi that he cared for them while none of the conventional political parties did despite being in office for years. Kejri, after leaving his office, shrewdly considered BJP and Narendra Modi as his prime target, for he saw no merit in targeting Congress which stood demolished and fully devastated in the wake of five assembly elections in the month of November. Defeating Sheila and earning the tag of a giant killer emboldened Kejri to take Modi head on and hence his latest plan to visit Gujarat to expose the hollowness of Modis claim of development reaching every corner of the state. Modis claim to Prime ministership to a great extent, lay in his dangling the carrot of Gujarat model of development with a promise to replicate it across India if he is given achance to do so. Hence, Kejri shrewdly seized thois moment of his further reckoning by paying a visit to Gujarat. The latest spate of violence rocking in Delhi, Lucknow and Ahmadabad, have been well organised and orchestrated by Kejri and his team members who once again took BJP by surprise. Guerrilla war that Kejri is capable of unleashing on its most powerful rival BJP, has almost unnerved the party to its wits end, so much so that, BJP instead of being contemptuously dismissive of such tricks, has lashed out at them dubbing them as Naxals anarchists and what not. Here BJP should have drawn a historic lesson from medieval times when Shivajee launched a series of guerrilla wars against Aurangzeb, the latter although highly powerful, yet had to devise his own ways to overcome Shivajees tricks. BJP should have known that it is the Aurangzeb and Kejri and his party is akin to Shivajee who is trying to make his presence felt in the vast swathe of the territory of India. BJP stands at the crossroad of history. After a decade of wilderness, it is sensing power in the wake of this upcoming general election. However, one man or a party that stands between them and the power at the centre--and that man is Kejriwal and his party Aam Admi Party. Kejriwal knows that he cannot form the government but he knows that he can spoil the party of Modi and BJP if he can provoke them into a violent reaction against their provocation. And, unfortunately he appears to be moving satisfactorily in the same direction. If he can succeed in reducing 10 to 20 seats of BJP, he could already have achieved his mission while derailing the BJPs grand mission of achieving 272 plus seats. Moreover, Kejriwal is sensing to place himself in the place of Congress which stays in the moribund stage gasping for its breath. it is the most delicate time for the BJP to act smart to find its way past the master tactician, Kejriwal. Hence, the immediate role for the BJP managers would be to engage Kejriwal in some exercise so that he cannot take his time off for other activites like his current tour of Gujarat. And this can be done by foisting a new group on him --launching series of demonstrations against Bharti, Sisodia and others so that Kejri can spend most of his time in defending his flocks and has no time for all his political tours and seizing media attention. Kejriwal has been for more than two months grabbing the headlines and that too does not augur well for BJP. BJP even will have to mend its ways to make itself more Aam Admi friendly which, unfortunately, the party is not at the moment. It has to keep in mind that till the election, Kejri and his party is likely to make series of incursions in its territory but like India engaging Pakistan in diplomatic parlance while artillery firing rages in the border, BJP has to cooly negotiate with it,keeping in mind that if India retaliated with full might, the diplomacy would fail and a full scale war with Pakistan would then be the only eventuality. Hence, BJP should remained engaged in Kejri while allowing Modi to do his job--sewing alliances that he is already doing well. While it would be fully in the fitness of the things to suggest that what kejriwal is doing goes against the very spirit of the democracy, but it however cannot be denied that he has proven himself as a master tactician who moves ahead in his planning and execution. As this act of violence in BJPs office in Ashoka road and elsewhere proves, he remains ahead of all the thinking traditional politicians in the country. By launching series of Guerrilla incursions in the past and the latest version of it in Delhi and other two places, he has also proven that how he thinks ahead of others-- he has proven by the dint of his action that what he thinks today, BJP thinks tomorrow, and Congress may or may not even day after tomorrow. Whether elite would appreciate it or not, he has surely ushered in the path of many many IITIANS and other professionals to join it which, not too in the distant path, was considered as a taboo for them. Jai hind.
