HARYANA Chandigarh, July 06: Haryana Agriculture Minister, Paramvir Singh today said that a Centre for Sub-tropical Fruits would be set up with the cooperation of Israel at a cost of Rs 9.10 crore at Ladwa in district Kurukshetra and it would be functional by the year 2015-16. The Minister was inaugurating 22nd Mango Mela at Yadavendra Gardens at Pinjore, near here. He said that Haryana Government has implemented a number of schemes for promotion of horticulture and four new varieties of mango would be imported from Israel. He said that the Mango Mela would prove beneficial for farmers as it would provide them information about mangoes. Also, it would benefit the consumers. He said that a total of 2795 entries of 118 varieties have been received at the Mango Mela from Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Chandigarh. Those present on the occasion included Chairman, Haryana Tourism, Mr Chakarvarti Sharma, Managing Director, Haryana Tourism, Mr Anand M. Sharan and other prominent personalities of the area.
