HARYANA/Chandigarh, October 08: In Haryana, more than 9.12 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has so far arrived in the various mandis during the current procurement season as compared to arrival of over 6.15 lakh metric tonnes in the corresponding period last year. While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Food and Supplies Department said the district Kurukshetra is leading in the paddy arrival where 3,13,978 metric tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis, followed by Karnal with 2,40,407 metric tonnes. District Ambala ranks third in the paddy arrival where 1,18,438 metric tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis, whereas in district Kaithal 1,54,093 metric tonnes of paddy has arrived. Similarly, in Panipat 3556 metric tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis, in Yamunanagar 31,894 metric tonnes, in Sirsa 5554 metric tonnes, in Sonipat 1395 metric tonnes, in Jind 4634 metric tonnes and 12,593 metric tonnes of paddy arrived in the mandis of Fatehabad. He said that out of the total arrival of paddy, 37,142 metric tonnes of paddy has been purchased by the millers. Among the Government agencies, Food and Supplies Department has purchased 4,03,760 metric tonnes of paddy, HAFED 2,36,240 metric tonnes, Agro Industries Corporation 1,30,017 metric tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 70,041 metric tones and CONFED had purchased 35,496 metric tonnes of paddy, he added.
