HE HEARD! Mark 10:46-52 Blind from birth, living in a world whereby what you see is what you perceive. He just imagined what the world will be like, the birds singing , the water fall, the bees buzzing around the flowers in summer, he was born blind. He was not only blind but he was also poor, he was a beggar, he would sit by the side walk and beg, for money, for food daily. One can imagine what the people who were passing by were saying about him. Then it happened that one day as he sat by the side walk, something was happening around him, crowds were gathering along the side walk, he did not see but he “Heard” as crowds increased by the sidewalk there was so much excitement, , why he had no idea, the spot he usually occupied alone today was on demand, everybody was struggling to be on the sidewalk. Then he asked, maybe wondering what was happening. They told him it was “Jesus” That changed everything in him, is it the same Jesus, who is the giver of life, the same Jesus who, cast out demons, the same Jesus, who woke up Lazarus, he stood up, in a loud voice yelled. Verse 47When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” the bible says many rebuked him, told him to keep quiet, but the bible says he shouted even louder. Jesus heard him, and asked the same people around him to call him. The bible says they told him Jesus wants to see you, he threw his cloak away and came to Jesus, who asked him what he wanted, a beggar blind since birth, did not ask for a million dollars, to get servants to look after him, he asked for “his sight” Verse52 “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road. In the bible the blind beggar was Bartimaeus but today : _we sit by the sidewalk, begging daily, what do we beg for, clothes, food money. -People will talk, what do we hear, somebody saying, poor you, cannot do anything, will always be a beggar, or do we hear the voice of Christ calling in the wilderness, do we feel the crowd being tighter around us, struggling to sit on our spot, when we hear about the name of Jesus what is our response, He is the giver of life. do we shout louder even if others are telling us to keep quiet, do we stay on our knees, asking for Jesus to have mercy on us. When we shout louder, he will send those very people to call us, those who were telling us to shut up, and when he does call us, just like in the blind beggar, we are to throw away the old self, for in Christ we are a new creation, it does not matter how important, the cloak was, how desperately we needed that cloak, in Christ we are reformed and transformed by beholding. Verse 52 Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road. Bartimaeus had never seen any miracles Jesus did but he HEARD and called in faith, and Christ HEARD and answered through grace.(When we hear lets share)
