HEAVY RAIN WARNING: Today Wednesday will begin rather overcast - TopicsExpress

HEAVY RAIN WARNING: Today Wednesday will begin rather overcast throughout the region as a lingering weather system continues to clear into the Irish sea. All areas are at risk this morning from some mist and drizzle however his should begin to clear away by the late morning and early afternoon. These drier and brighter conditions will spread to all remaining areas for this afternoon and it will be a very pleasant end to the day with some prolonged spells of sunshine possible. Highs of between 16 and 17 degrees Likely in westerly breezes. Tomorrow Thursday will be a rather pleasant day across the Midlands with all areas expected to see some prolonged spells of sunshine as an ridge of high pressure lies close to Ireland. Temperatures will be around average for the time of year reaching between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius in a freshening south westerly breeze. Friday will begin dry and bright in eastern areas of the Midlands however western areas will be overcast with the a spell of heavy rain. This rain will spread to all parts of the Midlands during the morning and afternoon and may well lead to some spot flooding given that a large volume of water is possible in a short space of time. During the entire month of September there was 12 mm of rain recorded in east Offaly, on Friday alone we are expecting around 25 mm of rainfall. Winds will also be strong and gusty and may reach 80 kph in exposed upland areas of the Midlands such as the Slieve Bloom mountains. Temperatures will be dropping also reaching between 14 and 16 degrees Celsius. Saturday and Sunday at present look like being very showery days across the region with some heavy and possibly thundery showers streaming in from the Atlantic. At this time of year the shower activity will die down during the evening and the showers will retreat to Atlantic seaboard counties meaning some ground frost may become a problem over the weekend in sheltered areas of the Midlands. There will however be some sunshine in between the showers, so its not all doom and gloom. Temperatures will have changed drastically by Sunday with highest values by then reaching only 10 to 12 degrees Celsius, which is between 6 and 8 degrees lower than what we have become used to over the past month. If any of you would like further details or a specific forecast for your event over the coming week then please feel free to message the page in private or comment below. Kindest regards, Cathal.
