(HEBREWS) Most of the letters in the New Testament address - TopicsExpress

(HEBREWS) Most of the letters in the New Testament address the basics of the faith and Christian living. The book of Hebrews addresses deeper theological issues. It explains many Old Testament symbols of worship- the high priest, the sacrifices, the covenant- in the light of the new covenant brought by Jesus. Jesus is greater than the angels, greater than Moses, greater than any high priest, greater than the old covenant. Jesus is the perfect and final blood sacrifice for our sins. Because of who Christ is and what he did on the cross, we can have full assurance and confidence to enter the presence of God. In the Old Testament Jewish tradition, only the high priest could enter behind the curtain into the holy presence of God once a year. The writer of Hebrews flings wide the torn veil that separated sinful humanity from God. He invites all of us to accept Christ as Savior and enter into a relationship with God with confidence and joy.
