HEIRLOOM TOMATOES: We got some from a friend. WHAT? These things foisted on the public by stealth Monsanto? They are an ugly color, odd shapes, mushy and a non-zingy flavor with no acidity. No thank you. We have enough. What I want are the legacy or heritage tomatoes my grandfather used to raise. Those that were hybridized by Luther Burbank or some other human being using gentler techniques. If you want REALLY heirloom tomatoes go eat some Belladonna or whatever the root species the tomato was brought up from.
