HEL Performance | British Super Bikes | Seasons Greetings MSVR would like to thank everyone who made the 2014 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship such a success. In particular to the 458,000 spectators who followed the championship trackside and the many tens of millions more who watched around the globe on television. A big thank you also to all the riders and teams across all the classes who once again provided non-stop entertainment and fierce competition at each and every round; your talent, dedication and professionalism continues to make MCE BSB highly respected amongst all other motorsport championships in the world. Congratulations to Shane Shakey Byrne and all the other 2014 Champions. Our sincere appreciation also goes out to MCE Insurance, our title sponsor, and we thank all our other commercial and media partners. The MCE BSB show would simply not be possible without the commitment and skills of the Racesafe marshals, the race organisation and our amazing medical team. 2014 was another exhilarating season. Thirteen different riders scored podium finishes, the most in recent years, and the final Showdown phase featured five different teams, testament to the success of the technical rules in MCE BSB. The Showdown six saw two new riders and two new teams make the cut for the first time with Dan Linfoot and Chris Walker for the Quattro Plant Kawasaki and GBmoto Kawasaki teams respectively. The season also saw some historic moments including BMWs first race win scored in sensational style by Ryuichi Kiyonari, the emotional debut race victories for Tommy Bridewell and Peter Hickman at Cadwell Park and Bimotas first pole position at Assen with Christian Iddon and the Alstare Junior team. We would also like to take a moment to remember the riders who sadly lost their lives. Simon Andrews and Karl Harris who were lost at the international road races, whilst Tommy Aquino tragically died after a training accident back home in America ahead of what would have been his debut season in MCE BSB. Before no-time at all well soon be kicking off the 2015 season at Donington Park on 4/5/6 April and of the riders already confirmed the grid features five different nationalities, defending Champion Byrne, a highly-driven Ryuichi Kiyonari desperate to equal the score with a fourth title, plus Broc Parkes who joins Josh Brookes at Milwaukee Yamaha. The new teams and riders featured means we have seen the biggest change of rider and team combinations in recent years including TAS Racings switch to BMW with Tommy Bridewell and the returning Michael Laverty. Halsall Racing have become the official Suzuki team with their much-anticipated line-up due to be announced after the festive break ahead of the new season. We also see the return of 2013 Champions Honda Racing as they are back full-time in the series with Dan Linfoot and Jason OHalloran. And dont forget if you cant wait until next April then you can still relive all the action from the 2014 season over the festive season courtesy of ITV4, featuring the full season review. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Stuart Higgs, MSVR and the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship Team
