HELP ME PLEASE BEFORE I FREEZE!! I am Penny Harris, the Executive Director of Fifth Street Renaissance and I am getting ready to celebrate my birthday. In honor of my 48th birthday on December 27th, I have pledged to stand on the street and take donations until I have raised $4800 to help us serve the homeless. Fifth Street Renaissance works tirelessly to meet the needs of an ever increasing demand to provide housing and critical, life saving services to the most vulnerable members of our community including the operation of 18 programs to serve the homeless, those who are HIV+ and homeless Veterans. We have a difficult time making ends meet at this time of year. We need your help!! I will stand at two different locations beginning at 8am on December 27th, no matter the weather, until I have raised the money or I will sleep on the street. Please come to Dirksen Parkway and South Grand Avenue between 8am-3pm OR Wabash Avenue between Drawbridge and Veterans from 3:30pm- Midnight to donate to help us help the homeless. I will have someone on hand to write receipts and of course your donation is always tax deductible. We just stopped by there and she is still on the street corner and freezing and needs your help!
