HELP! THREEWAYS TRAINING AND ENTERPRISE CAFE AND THE TEACUP APPEAL I cant begin to put into words how much Threeways school means to me and other parents in Bath who have children with special needs. Seb attended the school on a part time basis last year and I imagine he may attend again at some point in the future. The building is beautiful, ecological and built with gorgeous materials like wood and metal and glass. it has a strong design feel to it with lots of specially commissioned pieces such as intricate ironwork skylights and window boxes housing little artworks which stimulate inquisitive imaginations. the outdoor spaces include sensory gardens and play areas. It has an UH-MAZING 360 degree sensory room and every therapy under the sun. This school is outstanding for so many reasons but mainly because, however limiting a childs disability may be, no child is written of. Every child is seen as an individual and their strengths are nurtured and grown. I was so delighted to hear that the school has been granted permission to build a much needed Training and Enterprise Cafe within the grounds of the school. it will give opportunities for pupils to learn real skills that will potentially lead them to employment. it will offer a place for respite for parents and pupils and a visiting place for the community. More than any of this, it will give pupils a feeling of empowerment, self worth and inclusion. So often pupils leave the security of their school support system and get lost. The cafe will bridge that gap and lead students one step closer to supported independence. The problem is the cafe needs to raise a LOT of money in the next few months otherwise the planning will be withdrawn. The teacup appeal has been launched to ask for people to pledge ANY help they can in whatever format - * time - can you spare any time to help fundraise? to promote the project? be a volunteer? * expertise - are you in the hospitality trade? could you spare your time and expertise to help set up the training scheme? Or come to the school and train some students? * equipment - are you in the catering trade and have any equipment that you could donate to the project? * contacts - do you know anyone that could help promote the project or help inspire others? are there any big corporate companies that you are linked with that may like to be involved? do you know any foodie types....etc * money - feels rude talking about money but thought id mention it! would you or your company like to sponsor a teacup? * social media - can you follow us on twitter and help spread the word? @teacupappeal - this doesnt cost anything! * do something crazy - for sponsorship money for the appeal? * sponsor (or join) me on my wild run! details to follow....... Please, if you have time watch this video - it tells you all you need to know. it is SUCH a positive venture that really needs to get off the ground. it is true inclusion, where every person is treated as an equal and given the same opportunities as everyone else. vimeo/37798445
