HERD MENTALITY : The sensational news and the channel discussion last week were on the transfer of an HM and the entire opposition led by Sri VS Achuthanandan and V Sivankutty making use of the opportunity to pin down the education minister and the CM.The FB was full of comments highly critical of the education minister and accusing him behave like a monarch .Even Kochouseph Chittillappally and Zacharia were vehement in their condemnation of the minister . Most of those who commented on the posts showed the mentality as seen in the first picture above- herd mentality I have a few posers to all the protagonists of the HM 1) Is it not the basic responsibility of the HM of the school where a meeting is held to receive the chief guest 2)Even if HM is not there temporarily to receive the chief guest, didnt she have to ensure that someone responsible is there to do it. 3) Even admitting that the gate had to be kept closed especially it being a girls school, where were the security guards knowing fully well that the minister would come sooner or later.? 4) Did the HM not had the responsibility to ensure presence of the security with the minister expected 5) It was reportd that the HM being sick had to go to the office to have her medicines and also to use the toilet. Why couldnt the HM ensure at least that the security is there when she had to be away There were reports thst HM was in a meeting with the PTA office bearers and the security guards were also there From the speech she made it is clear that HM was not all happy in having the meeting there during the class time. It is likely that her subconscious mind made her act in the wrong way as she did .As the host - as HM of the school she was duty bound to receive the chief guest ,the education minister. Failing in her hospitality and basic courtesy she should have apologised to the minister if she had to be away in office or toilet .This she never did and what she did to him was unbecoming of a HM of such a prestigious school. She had to be put in her place for not respecting and also for not showing basic courtesy to the chief guest, the education minister, who is her ultimate boss . If the HM was not symbolically punished for this ,then Abdul Rubb had no business to be the education minister .Thinking too much of herself and that HM of a prestigious school life Cotton Hil is equally importantant as the minister himself (who is even the boss of her superiors including the education secretary ) did her in. Self realisation and humility are basic qualities what a teacher, especially an HM should have
