HERE IS THE EMAIL I JUST SENT OUT. 08:30 LOCAL TIME, FRIDAY FROM THE OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT MIKE HONIGSBERG, CERTIFIED DIRECTOR 114 West Broadway Enid, Oklahoma. 73701 580-249-5969 !!!!!IMPORTANT INFORMATION!!!!!! 10/17/14 FRIDAY Good morning, Weatherwise, the weekend looks good. We had a cold front, so to speak, come thru yesterday and basically all it did was change the wind direction. Temps over the next week or so will average in the 70s for highs and in the 40’s and 50s for lows. We’ll have a front or two come thru but rain chances are relatively low. That said, get outside and get some fresh air as winter will be here before we know it. Be careful while outside as you can still get a good sunburn if you aren’t careful. Just ask me!! I have put out a few posts on Facebook and my blog concerning the Ebola issue. As most of you all know, I am NOT into DRAMA when it comes to weather or major news events. My job is to put out information that is informative and directional, if needed, to help guide you thru the issues. Depending what news source you watch, they report in a partial information mode and add a little panic on top of that. I will not name any stations. Information that I put out there will be NON-Panic in nature and it will be informative. All you have to do is TAKE THE TIME TO READ AND UNDERSTAND IT. During times of crisis, my department COORDINATES with those agencies that are heavily involved so I can get the correct information, hopefully in its entirety, and get that information out there. Whether it’s a medical issue, a disaster issue, or a weather issue, information and/or a source to go to is extremely important to put out to as many residents/ folks as possible. Other agencies do this too simply because not everyone is tied to my emergency management system. As I get info, the radio folks locally receive that info as well as the newspaper folks and other agencies. It takes all of us to get that info into your hands. Decision-making is important and if you have all the facts we can get to you, it helps you make better decisions for you and your families. I am going to put a few links here at the end of this email for you to click on at your convenience concerning the Ebola issue, the Drought monitor, and weather information. Bookmark these links on your computers and hand-held devices so they are close at hand. Finally, I stated in an earlier email that we are working on an app for iPhone and android phones. It is ongoing at this time and will be FREE to you all. This is exciting as we will have many capabilities with this app. We hope it will be ready within a month or less. I know I stated that before but have learned things take time to piece together so I will be patient. The links are below so have a great weekend and stay safe. ok.gov/…/Disease_In…/Ebola_Hemorrhagic_Fever.html droughtmonitor.unl.edu/Home/StateDroughtMonitor.aspx… srh.noaa.gov/oun/ Mike Mike Honigsberg, Certified Director Enid/Garfield County Emergency Management E.O.C. 580-249-5969 CELL-580-541-1263 gcem.org Twitter-@garfieldem Facebook- Enid/Garfield County Emergency Management
