HERE WE ARE AT THE END OF ANOTHER SEASON-And what a season it has been!! First of all, thank you all for volunteering your services and time this year to your team and the club. As you know we wouldn’t be able to put the boys on the field if it wasn’t for the volunteers, so your efforts are very much appreciated. It can be time consuming being a coach, assistant, team manager and helper in general- all which are volunteer jobs but hopefully you have found it rewarding and after a break you may wish to continue next season! Just a recap for you: We had 215 players this season fielding 2 x u9s, 2 x u10s, 2 x u11s, 1 x u12, 1 x u13, 1 x u14 and 1 x 15 team. Our u13 team this year consisted of half Caroline Springs players and half Deer Park players playing under permit. This allowed the boys to play and not be turned away from both clubs. Thank you to all the players and parents for making this team work. Of course the u9s and u10s do not score (!!) and do not keep a ladder, but by all accounts they did very well and had a fantastic season finishing off with a round robin carnival. Obviously, some of these u10s will play u11s next season where their ‘stats’ will count and they will experience the wins and losses for points!! Of the other 6 teams, there were moments to test us all – coaches leaving, teams being re-graded and not enough players. But they managed to get through a successful season. Of these 6 teams their final placings were as follows: u11a – 4th on the ladder to finish 4th after the finals u11c – 5th on the ladder to finish 5th after the finals u12a – 1st on the ladder to finish Premiers u13b – 4th on the ladder to finish 4th after the finals u14a – 6th on the ladder, narrowly missing finals u15b – 2nd on the ladder to finish Premiers Both Grand Finals were played in gale force winds making it very one sided football each quarter. Both games consisted of all the scoring by both teams being in alternate quarters. Both games finished in a nail-biter with the u12s winning in the last 10 secs and the u15s in the last 20 secs. Great games of football in trying conditions and the players should be congratulated along with their coaches, team managers and the support of the parents. Both games had a good turnout from supporters making for a great atmosphere. u12a – Caroline Springs 5.2.32 defeated Sanctuary Lakes 3.11.29 Goal kickers – Jake Moretti 2, Steven Kyriazis, Leigh Dyson, Fletcher Kay Best – Ryley Grech, Tyler Miceli, Leigh Dyson, Xavier Viloa, Jake Moretti, Nicholas Prodan Umpires BOG medal – Ryley Grech u15b – Caroline Springs 8.7.55 defeated Werribee Centrals 8.6.54 Goal kickers – Joel Ives 2, Dylan Galea 2, Scott Lee, Sam Cannolo-Jackson, Jake DiCarluccio, Will Markovski Best – Joel Ives, Dechlan Markovski, Sam Cannolo-Jackson, Kyle Turner, Will Markovski, Jordan Carter Umpires BOG medal – Joel Ives We had a number of players play their 50th game for the club this season: U10 Red - Jay Stock & Lachlan Mellon U11a - Ethan Sillato, Lucas Blackman, Dylan Neicho, Darcy Franks, Mason Zahra, Zen Christofi, Carlo Riccardi, Damon Cardona, Oscar Gordon & Nathan Parkinson U11c - Caleb Spackman, Antonio Zammit & Samuel Shattock U12a - Marcus Jovica, George Kanstanaris, Fletcher Kay, Matthew Larkin, Campbell Child & Jonah Rodrigues U13 - Massimo Sergio & Bailee O’Mallee Degabrielle U14 - Miller Slingsby, Alex Cianter, Lachlan Thompson & Will Markovski U15 - Scott Lee & Amrit Mundi CSFC had a number of boys feature in the top 10 of the WRFL goal kicking table, with 3 being the outright leaders: u15b 1st – Braiden Gale with 35 goals 2nd – Jake DiCarluccio, 30 4th – Sam Cannolo-Jackson, 23 6th – Dylan Galea, 17 7th – Joel Ives, 13 with Scott Lee, Matthew Boyle and Melaku Gebremeskel finishing in the top 15. u12a 1st – Jake Moretti with 60 (27 goals ahead of 2nd place) 4th – Steven Kyrazis, 28 8th – Nikolas Dukakis, 18 9th – Leigh Dyson, 16 u11a 1st – Carlo Riccardi with 40 (10 ahead of 2nd place) 10th – Damien D’Silva, 14 u11c 5th – Antonio Zammit with 15 (only 5 behind the winner) So as you can see, we have finished season 2013 on a high.
