HERKIMER COUNTY — There have been several updates in terms of flood recovery for residents of Herkimer County as of Sunday afternoon issued by the county’s Emergency Operations Center and Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office. The Department of Financial Services’ Mobile Command Center will be deployed to the county to help homeowners and businesses with insurance-related issues caused by the recent floods. The center will be stationed at the village of Herkimer’s Kmart store (200 South Washington St.) on Sunday, July 7 from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Those impacted may also call the department’s disaster hotline at 1-800-339-1759, available on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The command center will be deployed to additional locations in the coming days. There are still boil water advisories for the village of Mohawk, Van Hornesville in the Town of Stark and the Leatherstocking Mobile Home Park in the Town of German Flatts. ä Free tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis vaccinations will be available from 2 to 3:45 p.m. on Monday, July 8 at the Herkimer County Municipal Office Building (301 N. Washington St.) for responders, residents and recovery workers. Several organizations are distributing supplies at different locations: -The Village of Herkimer Fire Department (125 North Washington St.) will distribute water and dry ice in the afternoon with a food station between Washington and Mohawk streets. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. -The Village of Mohawk’s Fire Department (28 Columbia St.) will distribute water and dry ice in the afternoon, with a food station between Henry and West of Columbia streets. -The Owen D. Young School in Van Hornesville (2316 State Highway 80, Herkimer) will provide water and meals ready-to-eat from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Salvation Army is operating from several locations offering food, water and other services until further notice: -431 N. Prospect St: Coffee and drinks from 9 a.m. to noon; hot lunch form noon to 2 p.m.; hot dinner, 6 to 8 p.m. Vacant lot at E. Main Street and Bellinger Street next to the Family Dollar: Coffee and drinks from 9 a.m. to noon; lunch from noon to 2 p.m.; dinner from 5 p.m. until it’s gone. The Farm Service Agency in the county will request funding for the Emergency Conservation Program to make up for damage to crops, livestock losses and emergency loans. For more information, contact the agency at 866-2520. National Grid hand out restoration and energy efficiency program information at the village of Herkimer’s Fire Department. The company will also reimburse a state-licensed electrical inspector for inspections required before service is restored to a home or business.
