HEY! 300 VEGANS 4 CLEVELAND SAINT PATRICKS DAY PARADE MARCHERS! ARE. YOU. READY!?!? Here is some important must-know information for the big day: On parade day, Monday, March 17, 2014, our day will begin bright and early, as we prepare for the parade! We will meet at the Hilton Garden Inn, beginning at 10am, for registration, t-shirt distribution, photo shoot, food and fun! We will all walk together from the hotel to our designated line-up location, to be in place and ready to march by 1:20pm. We are in Division III, unit 3-G. We will line up in the street at 2331 Superior, next to the fenced-in parking lot. We are behind Cleveland Cycle Tours and in front of Jerry Vencl Corlett Movers. If you absolutely cannot make it to the hotel and instead must meet us at our line-up location, please call or text either Eriyah, Lucie or Sandie, so we can be sure to be on the lookout for you. For post-parade shenanigans, we are heading to Brickstone Restaurant at 2217 East Ninth St., Cleveland, OH 44115 (216-861-8000) for a vegan buffet for $17.50 plus tax and gratuity, with a cash bar. Zach and Jimmy Rocket will be there to entertain us, each with their own unique brand of live music. For those who are joining us post-parade only and so wouldnt already be parked at the hotel, $3 parking is available in two parking lots next to Brickstone on 9th Street. There is a parking garage on Carnegie as well. Parade Day Timeline: Monday, March 17, 2014 10am to noon: Registration, t-shirt distribution, food and photo shoot at Hilton Garden Inn, Cleveland Downtown, 1100 Carnegie, Cleveland OH 44115 (216-658-6400). Parking is available for $3 in lots just across from the Hilton. 1pm: Singing of the American and Irish National Anthems. 1:04pm: Parade steps off. 1:20pm: 300 Vegans unit assembled and ready to march, lined up in the street at our designated location at 2331 Superior Avenue. The parade lasts about 2 hours, the route is .7 miles long, and will begin at the intersection of Superior Ave. and East 18th St. It will travel southwest on Superior Ave. to East Roadway. The parade will head northwest on East Roadway for one block; and then it will head northeast on Rockwell Ave. The Parade ends at the intersection of Rockwell Ave. and East 6th St. 3pm-ish: The Vegan Shenanigans commence! As of this posting, The Weather Channel has our day at partly cloudy, 36 degrees and 0% chance of precipitation. Yeah, its a little chilly, but this is CLE and we are Vegans ... We got this! And the weather forecast has changed for the better over the last few days, so the optimist in me is hoping to see at least 50 degrees and partly sunny! Its going to be all about the layers, everyone! Layer up under those Vegan tees, and wear your mittens, hats and scarves. Dont forget your fun Irish parade accessories!
