HIGH DRAMA CONTINUES IN PF AS COURT ISSUES INJUNCTION BUT, GENERAL CONFERENCE CARRIES ON High drama continues this morning as injunctions, suspensions, firings and General Conferences are put in a potpourri of high intrigue and national amazement. This morning the Lusaka High Court is said to have issued an injunction against the proceedings at Mulungushi where a General conference of The Patriotic Front (PF) is being held after a controversial declaration of Defence Minister Edgar Lungu as a winner of the partys presidency in the absence of other candidates. The Court order which is understood to have been served is said to have been signed by High Court Judge M. Mulenga stopping Acting-President Dr. Guy Scott or his agents from purporting to hold or host a General Conference. Dr. Scott has however convened the process in Kabwe where candidates are now speaking to the delegates carried live on the national broadcaster Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) TV. Candidates who have spoken so far include Given Lubinda, Captain Selemani Phangula Banda, Chishimba Kambwili, Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba and Robert Bob Sichinga. Earlier Mr. Lungu announced that as party president, he had fired Secretary General Bridget Atanga and her deputy Anthony Kasolo, as well as suspended PF chairperson for elections Sylvia Masebo for gross indiscipline. Lungu has since appointed Davis Chama as Secretary General. PF chairperson for elections Sylvia Masebo had earlier addressed an extra-ordinary general conference in Kabwe where she said the elections for a PF leader will take place following campaigns by the 9 candidates including Edgar Lungu. The Lawyers for Lungu have served the High Court Injunction to restrain ZNBC and Muvi Tv from Broadcasting proceedings of the General Conference. Muvi have since complied but ZNBC continues broadcasting the event.
