The Sony CFD-S350 boombox has a 1/8” Stereo Headphone Jack for private listening when needed. The Sony CFD-S350 boombox comes with a 26-Key IR remote control, model: RMT-CS350A, for effortless control of the stereo from a distance. The remote control has numerous buttons to enhance the portability and convenience of this portable stereo. The remote can power the portable stereo on in AC power mode only and turn it off in battery and AC power modes by pressing the green-circled Power button. There is a 0-120 minute sleep timer and Sleep button which can power the radio off automatically at six selectable intervals of time (60 minutes, 90 minutes, 120 minutes, OFF, 10 minutes, 20 minutes, and 30 minutes). The sleep timer can be cancelled by pressing the Power button on the boombox or remote commander. A Function button allows you to switch back and forth between the FM/AM Tuner, CD Player, and Tape Recorder. There is a 10-key numeric keypad for controlling direct tuner preset station selection and direct track access for CD playback. Preset stations and CD tracks greater than position 10 in memory can be accessed directly by pressing the >10 button on the remote commander and then entering the exact preset station or track number. There are Tune + and Tune - buttons to navigate FM/AM station frequencies in ascending or descending order. When you press and hold either one of these Tune buttons the tuner will automatically find the next available clear signal station in descending or ascending station frequency order on the FM or AM bands. You can press the Tune +/- buttons on the remote one key press at a time to locate any particular FM or AM frequency that you are looking for. For the FM Band the tuner proceeds up or down the frequency spectrum .1 MHz channel steps. On the AM Band channel step tuning proceeds up or down the frequency spectrum in 10 kHz intervals. The remote can directly select any of the 20 FM Stereo Presets and any of the 10 AM Band Presets. You cant navigate FM/AM preset stations in ascending or descending order one station at a time from the remote. You must use the preset tuning buttons on the boombox to achieve that operation. The remote commander can preset stations manually into memory by tuning in the desired FM/AM frequency and pressing a number button of your choice on the keypad for approximately two seconds. The remote commander can raise or lower the volume to the desired listening level. The Sony CFD-S350 boomboxs Volume buttons are located on the remote commander and on its top panel. The volume can be decreased or increased in 3-segment increments on a 0-10 volume scale. The line segment volume scale is depicted on this stereos LCD. Pressing or holding a Volume button will decrease or increase the volume rapidly as needed. If you press either Volume Control one key press at a time the volume will be adjusted down or up one incremental segment at a time. There is a Band button for switching back and forth between FM and AM. There is a Mode button for changing stereo mode to monaural reception if a FM station is received with static. The remote can activate or shut off the stereos Mega Bass sound by pressing the Mega Bass button. The remote commander contains all CD playback transport functions including: Play, Stop, Pause, two Forward/Reverse Search and Track Skip buttons. The remote commander cant control any of the tape transport functions. Tuner performance is exceptional. FM music stations are received with vibrant fidelity. FM stations have excellent stereo channel separation between vocals and musical instruments. The FM Band offers static-free reception. I dont find it necessary to extend the telescopic antenna to achieve satisfactory FM reception. Strong signal AM stations are received with great clarity, superb voice reproduction, and smooth tone. I dont need to reorient the stereo too much to receive my favorite sports, news, weather, and talk radio programs clearly. This boombox offers skip-free CD playback with powerful vocals, harmonious midrange, and well-defined bass once the Mega Bass feature is activated. The Sony CFD-S350 Portable Stereo does not offer MP3 CD Playback, resume play, DVD playback, Dual Disc playback, 3.5mm Microphone Jack, condenser microphone, or a 3.5mm Auxiliary Line Input Jack. The boombox was not designed with these features in mind. Cassette playback and recording is transparent, dependable, and effortless. The cassette players audio and mechanical operations are on par with its traditional component stereo counterpart. This Sony CFD-S350 boombox is a non-upgradeable model and was designed for customers that do not own or have no desire to own an iPod, Zune, or any other MP3 Player.
