HIGHER EVERYDAY (YOUTH) TOPIC: PRAISE FOR PEACEMAKERS Saturday, March 8, 2014 Text: “Blessed are the peacemakers; for they shall be called the children of God.” (Matthew 5:9) One great need of every living soul, family, nation and the world at large, is peace. You need peace to worship God, do your secular work and to contribute to the welfare of your family. The Christian family in particular which ought to be united together by the love of Christ cannot thrive in strife. If there is disagreement because of partiality, lack of mutual submission, respect, understanding and tolerance in your family, then where is your Love? Love reduces conflicts. Jesus said, “This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you” (John 15:12). Young people, just like their parents, should be peacemakers and always forgiving. Is there any quarrel between you and a family or Church member? Disagreements should be settled through dialogue and prayers in the family, and not avoidance of one another, quarrels, or fight. Isaac Watts wrote, “Birds in their little nests agree, And ‘tis a shameful sight, When children of one family fall out, and chide, and fight.” God will bring peace to your home even as you trust Him. Challenge: Be a trouble shooter and not a trouble- maker. Prayer: Oh God, let there be peace in my family. Further Reading: Hebrews 12:14-15
