HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED IN GHANAIAN MUSLIM LEADERS/ CLERICS i am authoring this status update with huge hesitation and hard heartedness since it might be interpreted to mean by some people as having taken muslim leaders to the cleaners.but they are still not doing the right thing as i type this piece.as human beings, they are not above reproach.i am strongly convinced that, its been more than three days ever since news broke out that, some ghanaian football fans who went to brazil to watch the world cup were seeking to be granted asylum status. they claimed they were fleeing from inter muslim religious conflict in ghana.this is a blatant untruth and i am highly disappointed in our ghanaian muslim leaders for not formally debunking this falsehood which has the potential of tarnishing the image the religion.muslim sects such as tijaniyya, ahli sunna wal jamma, ahmadiyya and so on all have leaders and secretariats.how much will it cost to publish a press statement to correct an erroneous impression by any of these secretariats?#abbah# the office of the chief imam should have by now issued a press statement just debunking the story for us to know we have people who so much value the corporate image of islam in ghana.no ghanaian muslim sects are up in arms against themselves today in ghana.i am not against anyone trying to seek asylum in any jurisdiction.after all, ghanaians have always travelled outside ghana for greener pastures and they hugely send fat remittances to their relatives.its all well and good but the image of my great Islamic religion is of utmost importance to me. the islamic leaders must wake up from their deeply rooted slumber and speak on matters of interest of the religion as well as the nation.clerics of other faiths speak and contribute on burning national issues to help move the country and give a facelift to the great religion bequeathed to us by prophet Mohammad (s.a.w.).the religion deserves better image publicity than it is receiving.conscious and concerted efforts must be put in place towards achieving this noble objective.
