HINDI FLAVOUR SONGS FEST Day# 1 Song #1 Good morning to all on a very ‘Fest-Ful’ special weekend morning !! I would like to begin the festivities of this very thoughtful event on a cheerful note. “हकीकत as you all know, was a film based on 1962 war with China – depicting the story of the battles fought by 5 JAT in Ladakh Sector. Lead roles are played by Dharmendra, Balraj Sahni and Vijay Anand, all of them as Army Officers of 5 JAT and PARA respectively. This song is filmed on Vijay Anand, a young Major saab from the Parachute Regiment. I have some very fond memories associated with this song. During my tenure in the High Altitude Area( similar area as shown in the film), I would often switch this song on while travelling in my jeep, or even when in my Nissan hut that was my residence. Our troops always watch the officers very keenly. So in a “बङा खाना”( feast with troops) , some of the soldiers gave me a pleasant surprise when they came up with this song as a chorus, and invited me to join them in. Thereafter, in all बङा खाना events, this was the most sung number as a chorus. This song depicts the carefree, enthusiastic and zestful nature of the soldier defending our borders. I have always believed the sentinels of our borders must be people who ‘live life’ !! Yes there are difficulties galore – vagaries of terrain, climatic condition, separation from near and dear ones, the tough life and what have you. But you can’t do a good job if you are a morose sitting in a bunker and having creepy feelings.
