HISTORY OF SCHOOL Among the conversations of Charlie M. Gaddi, President of the Seed of Hope Foundation, with Pastor Luisito Diaz while the latter was in Japan and the former, who was a resident of Japan and having school vacation in the Philippines, the idea of putting a school and promoting the church ministry have cropped up. Pastor Diaz during that time, for some unknown reason left his mother church in Nagoya and went to another. Knowing fully well the development of said church, Gaddi who was once a church leader in the same city have understand clearly the predicament of Pastor Diaz. Pastro Diaz went home to the Philippines to facilitate the renewal of his Japanese visa. When Gaddi was informed of his arrival from Japan to the Philippines, he called up a meeting. Such meeting was the first meeting held on May 20, 2013 in SM MegaMall, Ortigas, Mandaluyong City. The main agenda is the signing of incorporation paper of the members of the board of which Pastor Luisito Diaz, Pastor Ben Nacion and Joy Ornopia are among the selected. Charlie Gaddi, being the president and chairman of the foundation presided the meeting. In the sideline of the meeting was the proposal of the setting up of kinder-prep school of children residing along the abandoned railroad at Barangay Maligaya lV in San Pedro, Laguna. In that meeting, the group decision was anchored primarily from Gaddi’s opinion being the most senior and experienced. Thinking that the proposal would be of good service to the resident and to the church ministry in promoting the moral and spiritual value, Mr. Gaddi agreed to support the proposal. After the meeting, Pastor Diaz and Ms. Ornopia who are living near the abandoned railroad and familiar to the said place conducted a survey to the area at start recruiting qualified student for kinder-prep. Initially, 35 students were qualified and accepted. Knowing that there are no available funds for the renting a room for the class, the former coordinate and request to the leader of the barangay to use the barangay outpost as a classroom. On June 10, 2013, Mr. Gaddi again called up a meeting and was held at the same place where the first meeting was held and it was attended by Pastor Diaz, Pastor Nacion and Ms. Ornopia. Mr. Gaddi presided the meeting. During the meeting, Mr. Gaddi announced the approval of the registration of the Seed of Hope Young Lives Foundation, Inc. by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). It was also during this meeting that they agreed to contribute a certain amount to purchase school materials and uniforms. The school officially started on June 17, 2013 and held a class in a barangay post converted into a make-shift 30-seat classroom for nursery and kindergarten with ages of five to six. All of the children are from the informal settlers along the defunct railway of the Philippine National Railways (PNR) in San Vicente, San Pedro, Laguna. Situated at the side of the railway, the school is depressed, residents are poor; lack s water and sanitation, electricity and adequate housing. In the beginning, there were three teachers assigned to teach, Joy Ornopia, Ailyn Dela Rama and Marivic Nangka. Pastor Diaz was assigned to supervise the school, but did not stay longer as he went to Japan one week after the school opening. Thus the school was collectively run by the three teachers and the foundation. However, on the middle part of the school year, Joy Ornopia was left alone and continues the teaching by herself. In the first month of the class, the financial need of the school was shouldered by Charlie M. Gaddi, Pastor Luisito Diaz, Pastor Nacion. However, the succeeding month the financial obligation was shouldered by Gaddi and Diaz. Some generous individual who support the foundation also send financial support, namely: Tita P. Ongoco, Felicitas Bautista, Marcela Lotho Bankowsky, Josephine Gaban, Rose Eustaquio Bautista and Joseph Gatmaitan. The school which at first is a church base project supported by the foundation subsequently become entirely the foundation community project as all the proponent later become a board member of the foundation.
